The Cycle of the Great Migration

From January to March, the Serengeti enters the calving season, with thousands of newborn wildebeest attracting predators like lions and hyenas. During this period, the herds are mostly in the southern Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering incredible wildlife encounters. From April to May, the herds begin moving northwest toward the Western Corridor and cross the Grumeti River, following fresh rainfall and new grazing grounds.

Between June and August, the migration reaches the northern Serengeti, where dramatic crossings of the Mara River take place, creating some of the most iconic safari moments. From September to October, the herds spill over into Kenya’s Maasai Mara, making this an excellent time for cross-border safaris. Finally, from November to December, the wildebeests journey back south to the Serengeti’s southern plains as the short rains begin, completing the annual migration cycle.

5 Days Serengeti Migration Safari

On this trip, we enjoy a whole week in which to explore some of Tanzania’s amazing natural wonders. This exciting safari concentrates to a large extent on the Great Migration as it spends its time in Central Serengeti. In October, this is where we’ll find huge numbers of herd animals such as wildebeest and zebra, as the world’s biggest animal movement seeks grazing terrain. Of course, Nature and rainfall determine the exact route and timings of the animals’ movement, so our daily schedule will be adjusted if necessary to ensure that we see the animals at their very best, at their most numerous.

From our starting-point in Moshi, our spectacular adventure takes us first to Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant population and its landscape of distinctive baobab trees. We then drive to our next destination, Central Serengeti, where we enjoy two whole days marveling at Tanzania’s outstanding wildlife. Each day will bring something new, all explained to you by your expert driver-guide. The Great Migration is often the highlight of people’s lives, never mind the highlight of their safari! After absorbing all the excitement that Serengeti’s wildlife can provide, we head back south, changing scenery to visit stunning Ngorongoro crater, another incredible but totally different venue for the breathtaking animals of Tanzania.   Great company, guides, and Kilimanjaro experience!
Myself and 2 friends went with Eastland for the 8-day Kilimanjaro trek via Lemosho route, and had the adventure of a lifetime! We went as part of a group of 17, which included wonderful guides, porters, and cooks. All were so pleasant, positive, and helpful in making our hike memorable. Food, tents, bathrooms throughout were set up well and despite the extreme conditions on the mountain we were well taken care of. I came with friends and left with a family, go with Eastland! Daniel e il suo team ci hanno organizzato 5 giorni di safari che sono stati perfetti! Ci hanno seguito dall'arrivo all'aeroporto Kilimanjaro fino alla ripartenza per Zanzibar. Abbiamo pernottato in hotel ad Arusha e NgoroNgoro e poi in due campi tendati nel Serengeti. Abbiamo visitato i parchi Tarangire, NgoroNgoro e Serengeti Central e Nord. In particolare i campi tendati erano davvero di alto livello e gli autisti e le guide che ci hanno accompagnato (2 jeep con 2 autisti e 1 guida parlante italiano) veramente professionali, esperti e molto simpatici.   Great experience for 4-day safari
We hired Eastland to be our safari guide for a 4-day trip. Daniel (owner of the company) helped us plan the trip, he and the rest of the people involved were great to work with. Dilly was our guide and he was awesome! He was great to travel with, extremely knowledgeable, and accommodated whatever we needed. Dilly knows a bunch of other guides, which was very helpful. Each guide would let others where to find certain exotic animals if they came across them. We saw every animal we wanted to see (lions, hippos, elephants, monkeys, etc.) and saw a ton throughout the park. Highly recommend Eastland Adventures for a safari.

  Wonderful Experience hiking Kilimanjaro!
My wife and I hired Eastland Adventures to guide us on the 8-day Lemosho route to hike Kilimanjaro. It was an amazing experience thanks to our crew below! Guides - Charles and Erick Chef - Shedrack Waiter - Albini Private Restroom Porter - Mlay Porters 1. Denis 2. Petro 3. Rajabu 4. Natanaeli 5. Fredy 6. Juma The entire crew was extremely attentive, helpful, and overly accommodating. The whole crew was very helpful with assisting minor things that made the experience great, such as setting our tent up in optimal areas each night, helping us with our hiking needs (fixing water bladders, adjusting poles, etc.), and going above and beyond to ensure we summited the peak. Highly recommend this crew. Charles and Erick are guides you want to summit the mountain with. They were knowledgeable, motivating, and a pleasure to be around throughout the entire trip! We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them and they were crucial to our success, helping us with whatever we needed. They even offered to carry our backpacks the night of the summit. Eastland Adventures is also a locally run company. We preferred supporting the local people and felt our experience with Erick and Charles was better than those who used larger international companies, from what we could see. Climbing Kilimanjaro with Eastland Adventures was the experience of a lifetime. We were amazed by the large support team—many hands truly made light work. The guides were knowledgeable, fun, and incredibly supportive. They knew every detail of the mountain and made us feel safe at every step. Summit day was no joke, but when we got stuck, they carried our packs (on top of there's!!) when we struggled (still makes me tear up), helping us reach the top. The food was incredible (especially for being on a mountain!), and the accommodations before the climb were clean and secure. Everything was thoughtfully organized—even personalized mugs!
